マンガの教育的な価値
マイク・ウィルソン

Manga offers an ideal method for learning japanese. The wide range of
subject matter covered in manga means anyone can find one or several
suiting their personal interests. The combination of words and
graphics makes it possible to support the meaning presented by one
with the other. An isolated phrase may be difficult to understand, but
its meaning can probably be derived from a strong context. Learning
bits of a language together with its context helps embed the language
into the students' memory and is brought to the surface when a similar
context arises. Manga uses not only written vocabulary, but
conversational vocabulary, cultural expressions, and gestures can be
introduced with their natural usage.

For the student of japanese, whether young native japanese or
foreigner, manga provides an approach to learning japanese that
combines content, context, and most importantly, enjoyability into a
fine educational tool.
